SIG Happenings
Greetings! Special Interest Groups also known as SIGs provide
an outstanding opportunity for computer users to make contact with
others that are using some of the same software.
We have a pretty reliable group of SIG Leaders in this club.
Once in a while a SIG leader is not able to attend a scheduled SIG.
Usually they try to schedule an assistant to fill in or to post a note
on the door. At times, though, things don't work out. Sometimes these
inconviences are unavoidable. As a member you might offer to be a SIG
Leaders Assistant. When a SIG Leader had to be absent he/she would call
you and you could show up and post a note or greet the SIG attendees and
explaing to them that the SIG would not meet. If you're willing to
volunteer for this simple, but important job, mention it to the SIG
Leader at the next SIG meeting.
SIG Announcements:
Web Publishing SIG: There will be an organizational meeting for anyone
interested in learning how to publish documents to the WWW. This SIG
will not cover "how to sign on to the internet". Gene Phillips and
Marilynne Elliot have agreed to serve as Co-SIG Leaders. The
organizational meeting will be on Monday, November 11 at 8:00 PM at the
Resource center.
SIG Leader's: Thanks for the great job at getting your SIG notes to the
Monitor.
Hot Docs SIG: Is off and running. They sure didn't waste any time!
They will meet in SIB Room B on the Fourth Tuesday of every month at
6:30 PM. Thomas Martin has volunteered to be the SIG leader. He can be
reached at: (405) 528-8683 or via Email: macsource@macsourceokc.com.
UNIX SIG: Watch for an announcement about an organizational meeting for
a UNIX SIG.
Genealogy SIG: ***schedule change for this popular SIG.
SIG Possibilities: Is anybody interested in a Delphi SIG? A Freelance
Graphics SIG? A computer Games SIG? A Youth SIG? A Teachers /
Educators SIG? A Windows NT SIG? If you are interested in any of
these or some other SIG let me know. We might have enough interested
people to plan a SIG start-up.
SIG Leader Opportunities: If you or someone that you are acquainted
with has a special expertise with computers you might consider starting
a Special Interest Group (SIG). To be a SIG leader you don't have to be
the ultimate expert with the software that you are using. There is an
excellent article that describes a number of different SIG formats
written by several members of the Greater Cleveland PCUG. If you would
like a copy please EMail me on the club BBS: Bruce McDermott or
okcslmkr@inthenet.com
